Melting Tree Spirit [painting]

For those of you who’ve been following me for a while, you may recognize this little guy. As familiar face, this inklings was once known as Acid Trip. He’ll always been one of my favorite of my creations but i felt like the Acid Trip post didn’t really do him justice, so i went ahead and painted him in acrylic on a 11×14 canvas. I have fond memories of his creation do to the fact that when i did my preliminary sketch of him I was actually in the car on a road trip to Seattle (actually I was on my way, looking for an apartment). It was someone else’s turn at the wheel so i just sat admiring the trees outside when I suddenly noticed a water stain on the window that was really strange. I instantly saw what you see here in this painting! I took out my sketchbook and drew him as fast as i could as to not loose the imagery. Later i inked him, and now have a painting of him. I love this painting very much, it reminds me of my time in Seattle, and of my private studio I had set up in the basement of the house I was living in with an old college buddy of mine. It’s hard to give him up but I’m putting him up for sale at my new store! With Ape around the corner and merchandise finally all set up and ready to sell, i spent the past few days preparing to launch it with this painting as a featured item. Unfortunately for those of you (who like me) are broke, he’s a whoppin’ $100 dollars… but don’t sweat it, I’ve got posters, prints, buttons, original hand drawings, and even an old comic book i made a year back for MUCH MUCH LESS! Some items are only a few bucks so check out the new store by clicking the button below OR the menu button above.

As I mentioned earlier, APE (Alternative Press Expo) is THIS month, so I’ve been slaving over making a ton of buttons and printing out a few of my favorite inklings to sell. I’m so psyched, but nervous as well. This con is MUCH bigger than the previous I’ve been too, but I’m excited to meet a bunch of new artists and hopefully a few of you who can make it! The week before (Oct. 12) will also be the Official release date of Anhedonia Blue, my new comic, so also make sure to be there from the beginning of that endeavor as well!

It’s like he has a wooden mohawk, shooting hair gel from it. YAAAAAY

haha, i just saw it as the water (or blood of all living things) was leaving his body, drying him up to die and burn.

I like the hair gel too. :]

Aww I wanna pet him and hug him! I’m seriously looking forward to the launch of Anhedonia Blue, and I’m counting down the days! I am going to have to go check out your store, and see what tidbits I may want. Awesome painting!

You should try to hug him and pet him.. make him feel at least a little loved before he dies and melts away! :P

I’m super psyched about Ablue too! I just really hope I’m as prepared as I think I am, this is a huge commitment in comparison to [ui].

Glad you like the painting. :]
