I STILL don’t think that’s how it works!
Sort of a play off that suggestion a few weeks ago “I Don’t Think That’s How It Works,” I decided this week to cross the line into nerdy Fan Boy rather than trying to create something utterly insane I figured I’d pay tribute to one of the cartooning greats; Jhonen Vasquez. I realized recently one of the things that i have in common with a lot of my readers (you folks who are reading this), is that we all love Invader Zim! You’ve got to admire the pure madness portrayed on the surface of his work, you’d almost have to believe Jhonen himself snapped some time ago and is venting that out in his work! What truly fascinates me though is that he was able to pitch an idea like Invader Zim to Nickelodeon when his portfolio up till that moment consisted of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Happy Noodle Boy and Squee! The only way i can see him getting away with that pitch is if the board reviewing his idea had never previously picked up a copy of JTHM.
Sine this is in a way a tribute to Invader Zim, I must ask, what were your favorite moment on that show? One of my favorite scenes was the scene where the snowman was telling the story of Christmas and that one little boy asked to many questions and it annoyed the snowman. Remember that one? I tried youtubing some good clips to post here.. but i couldnt find many that weren’t full of songs… I did find this tho, and this scene always cracked me up:

Why thank you Sir, tho, I pretty much used the palate used in the original show, more or less. I definitely matches the aesthetic of the characters though for sure.
We constantly watch the first season whilst we do our chores/cleaning around the house.
The one that comes to mind is the head pigeon/organ harvesting.

That episode is exactly why I think it was canceled sadly. Way to dark for kids.. but i LOVED it.
I dunno, nickelodeon is kinda goofy with the stuff that the put in front of kids.
For starters we grew up with Ren & Stimpy, and Rocko’s Modern Life. Those shows were chuck full of stuff that would make any queasy pta mom shit down both legs.
ALSO, Adventure time is apparently on Nickelodeon, less I was a victim of a silly joke.

Yeah it AMAZES me that Ren and Stimpy lasted as long as it did.. I rewatched it recently and there are SOOO MANY adult jokes in it that it blows my mind. The difference tho was that Ren and Stimpy had a colorful happy front to it. Invader Zim from the get go was dark and as anyone who read Jhonen’s stuff could see, fucked up right in your face. lol
I’ve never heard of Adventure time… but i will have to check it out if you think its that much of a “wtf” moment type deal.
