One of the most challenging things in web comics is to create movement across a page with out actually having a 2D figure move. One of the ways a comic artist can get around that is by making the cell layout do the movement for you. Because of the fact that this particular comic is heavily text based as well it was a great challenge to space the words and the cells in a fashion as to not be overly crowded; which i may or may not have done successfully here; that’s up to you as the reader i guess. Personally i think this time around i did a better job creating a flow.
With this comic i tried something different than i have been doing with the previous remakes. Since this was one of the later comics that pretty much had my character style established and i figured that I didn’t really need to spend the time redrawing this one. Man was i wrong. I sat editing my errors from the original for over an hour. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned with photoshop just from coloring my unconscious inks every week. I will more then likely not be making the mistake of just editing old strips anymore. I’m much quicker at drawing with ink now a days AND my lines are cleaner.
Anyway, over all I’m more please with this comic. It didn’t really have the rough quality i wanted it to in the original. Also the detail on the flower, the boxes where Katie gets angry, the shading and the text have all Improved. Original
i’ve said it before and ill say it again. you have gotten so so so much better at drawing comics. not only technically but also style wise, like with the panels and such as you were saying in the blog above. kudos. *golf clap*

Yeah, sometimes I’m surpised at my growth.. but other times, I realize it was just a matter of time for me to get back the lost years. That’s the shitty thing about giving art up for about 6 years? lol. Oh well, All this art work, learning about coloring, shading, cell movement, etc is all for me to achieve the ultimate goal of a graphic novel down the line.. I’m shooting for 2009.. but who knows.
